Laborist Team

WellHealth’s Laborist program is one of the most successful in the Las Vegas Valley! “Laborist” most commonly refers to an OBGYN who is employed by a hospital or physician group and whose primary role is caring for laboring patients and managing obstetric emergencies. Our Laborist program is comprised of the following doctors:

Sam Alexander, MD

Dr. Sam Alexander is a board certified OBGYN and fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at UCLA, and has been since 1982. He is well experienced, compassionate, dedicated, and a talented surgeon and clinician. He was in private practice for over 20 years at UCLA-Santa Monica.

Folley

Andrew Folley, MD

Dr. Folley is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has been practicing medicine for the past 35 yeas since graduating from medical school in Toledo, Ohio in 1980 and completing his OBGYN residency in 1984. He spent 28 years in private practice in Toledo, then relocated to Corpus Christi, Texas in 2010 to provide Obstetrics and Gynelogic care to the lower-income population there. He and his wife relocated to Las Vegas in 2015 and has been a laborist with WellHealth since then.

He has been married for 32 years, and he has four children with his wife. Dr. Folley enjoys painting with oils and watercolors, sailing, and hiking with his wife and their chocolate lab.

David L. Howard, MD, PhD

Dr. Howard was originally born in Jamaica and immigrated to the U.S. at age 18. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the Johns Hopkins University. He received his MD and PhD (Epidemiology) through the Medical Scientist Training Program at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed an internship at the New York Presbyterian Hospital followed by a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Prior to joining WellHealth, Dr. Howard was an active duty physician in the United States Air Force.

Dr. Howard’s professional memberships include American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Howard’s passion is research, and he has authored/co-authored 19 publications. He is very active as a scientific reviewer for The Green Journal, one of the leading OBGYN journals in the US, as well as for the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. He has taken a keen interest in being a research mentor for junior physicians and has been a research mentor for OBGYN residents at three separate institutions. Additionally, Dr. Howard’s main aim is to strengthen the academic/research component of the LVMIS Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic surgery (FMIGS) at WellHealth.

Lloyd,William

William Lloyd Jr., MD

Dr. Lloyd has been a board certified OBGYN since 1981. His grandfather owned a prosthetics practice and growing up was allowed to see patient with him. When his younger sister was born with in utero amputation on both her arms and legs, his grandfather promised to make her prosthetics. The experience taught Dr. Lloyd the importance of compassion and being a healer in the medical field.

He was a part of the University of Nevada Medical School charter class of 1971-1973. He then transferred to the University of Iowa where he graduated with his medical degree in 1975. He completed a fellowship in Akron, Ohio and completed his OBGYN residency in Sacramento, CA. For two years after that, he was an OBGYN physician with the US Army in Texas. From 1981 until 2008, he maintained a private practice. He practiced in California for a few years before, in 2013, he joined WellHealth as a laborist.

Dr. Lloyd has seven grandchildren that he is very proud of and enjoys visiting them often.

Luem

Carl Luem, MD, FACOG

Dr. Luem is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and completed his medical internship at the County Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He served in the military after that. After leaving the service, he finished his OBGYN residency at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. This allowed him to join a private practice in California and then Georgia for the next 38 years. He also taught in an OBGYN program for five years at the Riverside County Hospital in Moreno Valley, CA. Before joining WellHealth, he was head of a family practice clinic in Fairfax, MO.

Dr. Luem loves working in OBGYN and enjoys spending his free time with his large family.

Robert Modugno, MD

Dr. Modugno was born in New York City. He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa, followed by a residency in South Africa in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He returned to the U.S. to complete his Chief Residency at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

He has practiced in Chicago, the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, and Atlanta. During his career, he has been in a collaborative practice with Certified Nurse Midwives and supports the physiologic management of labor, water birth, and VBAC. He holds an MBA for Physician Executives.

Dr. Modugno has two grown sons and two wonderful grandchildren. In the past, he has acted in the Atlanta TV and film industry and has been a front man in a rock n’ roll band. He hopes to resume playing tennis in Las Vegas.

Olds

Scott Olds, MD

Dr. Olds was born in Hawaii but was raised on the mainland. He has lived in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and finished high school in Kansas. He attended the University of Notre Dame and attended the John A. Burns School of Medicine in Hawaii. He completed his residency at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.

He started working in private practice in Las Vegas in 1991 and in 2005, joined the faculty at the University of Nevada School of Medicine at UMC. In 2010, he became a part of the WellHealth family as a OBGYN laborist. Dr. Olds has had the pleasure of working at nine different labor and delivery locations in Las Vegas and is consistently impressed with the improvement of obstetrical care in Las Vegas over the last 25 years and into the future.

Tyler

Lamarr Tyler, DO

Dr. Tyler was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He began his residency in the department of Family Practice and after his first year switched to Obstetrics & Gynecology after discovering his passion for women’s health. He believes that patients should be “active participants” and engaged in their healthcare. His philosophy is that the doctor – patient relationship is one of a “shared partnership”. 

He seeks to provide patients with up to date, evidence based healthcare options, enabling them to make the most informed choices regarding their healthcare needs. He believes every patient is unique and their care should be individualized. He optimizes the most current and minimally invasive technologies to optimize female health. He embraces health and wellness and encourages positive lifestyle changes. He enjoys an active lifestyle and lists cycling, skiing and yoga as a big part of his fitness regimen. He believes in a “patient centric” approach to healthcare and strives to connect with the person within the patient.

Randall Tuggle, MD

Dr. Tuggle has watched Las Vegas grow and has seen many advances in women’s healthcare science since his arrival with his wife and two kids 21-years ago. He completed his medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also a member of the Clark County OB/GYN Society. In his free time, Dr. Tuggle enjoys various outdoor activities such as golf, archery, and fishing.
